A farmer’s market is now open on Main Street, Buzzards Bay every Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.through October.  The market is located on the Canal Side of town just across from the RR Station on the edge of the town park.

The Cape Cod Times, today (July 2, 2007) reported under the headline, “Neigborhood revived - Investors credited with cleaning up a Buzzards Bay crime area.

Several dedicated investors led by Clint Standig of Wareham purchased apartment units in at 7 Franklin Streeet, Buzzards Bay, 2004, which were dilapitated and used by the drug pushers and users and the bane of the Bourne Police Department, and converted them in to state of the art contemporary housing units, now on the market as condominium properties.

The BBVA commends the investors and joins with the Bourne Police Department in thanking them for their efforts at cleaning up one of the town’s major drug location and increasing the town’s much needed housing stock.

Laura Gomes and Dave Finlay, owners of the Sunshine Cafe - Breakfast Cafe and Function Room - have announced they are open for business at 71-73 Main Street, Buzzards Bay - Monday - Friday 7am till Noon, Saturdays from 7am till 2 pm and holidays, as posted.  Much good luck to both.

The BBVA is now in the crowded blog world. Ever struggling to stay ahead of the virtual curve, we now inntroduce a new communications service with our members and the Buzzards Bay community.

This new, but well tested medium, will allow the BBVA to communicate quickly with various interested audiences on the latest goings on and to alert them of upcoming meetings and events of more than just casual interest to our on going efforts to revitilize Main Street/Buzzards Bay.

Tom and Jeff:

Great report!  It has such a refereshing tone of optimism compared to the normal doom and gloom regarding Buzzards Bay we hear repeated around town.  I am reflecting on sitting in on your listening session earlier this year, where it sounded like nothing was happening, the members were crying woe is me, and there was a sense, at least to me sitting in the audience, that no efforts could be put forth to a positive conclusion.  Your report is a reminder that big things happen in small steps, and we have to contunbually remind oursellves where we have come from to appreciate where we are.

Renee Ziegner, Buzzards Bay activist and dedicated volunteer, was recently recognized both the Bourne Board of Selectmen and the Buzzards Bay Vitalization Association for her many contributions to the town at to efforts to make Main Strret Buzzards Bay once again a visible and viable destination area.  The presentations were made by Linda Zeurn, chair of the Bourne Board of of Selectmen and Jeff Luce, chair of the BBVA Congratulations to Renee!!!!!

The Quintal’s site, just east of the Belmont Circle, has been cleared for the construction of a combination Dunkin Donuts and a Christy’s convenience store. Meanwhile work goes on at the old Burger King locartion on Main Street converting it for the relocation of the current Dunkin Donuts outlet at Job Lot. Word has it that Job Lot will take over the DD vacancy. More later.
